One of the world's largest travel retail network operators, with more than 4,000 stores worldwide, has an exciting career opportunity managing merchandising for its global brand.

Due to growth across the region, Lagardere Services Asia-Pacific has engaged Links Recruitment to help recruit a regional category manager, speciality.

'This person will be responsible for identifying, sourcing and developing interesting, high-quality products in the souvenir and gourmet food category to appeal to the travelling public,' said Debbie Matson, Links Recruitment managing director.

The person will manage an 'own brand' of the company, from product development, design approval and local branding to ensure the product meets legal requirements, and monitor production processes and delivery schedules.

'The ideal candidate will have three to five years' gift and souvenir merchandising, buying and sourcing experience, preferably from a multi-site or international travel retail company,' Ms Matson said.

A good understanding of the retail environment including inventory management, stock movement and product sell-through, product promotional and exit strategies is also important as the position holder is charged with making recommendations to management.

'This experience and understandings are more important than formal education.' A positive 'can-do' attitude, excellent negotiation and influencing skills, and willingness to travel up to two weeks at a time are also required.
