Fans cry foul after player banned

Wuhan Guanggu fans have staged a protest in the Hubei capital claiming corruption in the sport. Wuhan were furious after defender Li Weifeng was banned for eight matches following an incident in an away game against Beijing Guoan on Wednesday. Li had stepped on an opposition player, who retaliated and was sent off. Li was allowed to play on. But following a protest by Beijing Guoan, the Chinese FA banned both players for eight matches each. Wuhan claimed the punishment was unfair and withdrew from the China Super League.
