Police have made six arrests in connection with the killing of a man who died from injuries three days after being badly beaten in a Tin Shui Wai restaurant.

Six males, aged 15 to 21, were arrested in the New Territories between Friday and Sunday, police said yesterday.

No charges had been laid, and the six were released on bail pending further investigations.

Yuen Long district crime squad said it was dealing with a murder case.

The victim, surnamed Poon, who was attacked by a gang on Thursday, died from his injuries on Sunday night, police said.

Poon was attacked by more than 10 people at a fast food restaurant at Tin Shui Shopping Centre in Tin Shui Wai at about 3.55am.

It is alleged he was repeatedly struck on his head with hard objects. His attackers fled the scene after the attack.

Restaurant staff members reported the attack to the police.

The victim was semi-conscious when first admitted to Pok Oi Hospital. He was later transferred to Tuen Mun Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11.23pm on Sunday.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted on Thursday.
