Calvin Chan, the artistic director of Private-I Salon, shares his views on hair trends.

What is the biggest hair trend in the coming season? Short hair is going to rock the town! Models with a classic bob or simple short hair are often seen at the world's renowned fashion shows, so shorter hair, or even a more boyish cut, will be popular among trendy women. This style is especially suitable for Asian women with relatively slimmer faces. What if I have a round face? People with a plump face may stick to long hair, because a long or shoulder-length hair style will also be a trend. If you get bored with shoulder-length hair dye it in a natural brunette or coffee brown shade. My hair is thin, how can I increase its volume? You can add hair extensions to increase volume. Hair extensions are a global trend and most hair salons offer all kinds of hair textures and colours to make the extensions more natural. Then dye, perm or straighten the extensions. How can I maintain the hair style when I leave the salon? Try to remember how the stylist manages your hair and use a hair gel, clay or cream at home that your stylist used. What style would you recommend for parties? If you have long hair, wearing French rolls like a doll will put you under the spotlight at a Christmas party. Women with short hair can have the hair cut with layers and style it with clay, which adds movement and flow to the hair. What are men's hair trends this season? Men's trends are returning to the 1950s and 60s, when James Dean had shorter hair at the sides and well-combed longer hair on the top.
