Singer Joey Yung Cho-yee is back in Hong Kong after a recent series of concerts in North America, just in time to be the event celebrity for Reebok and promote its latest sportswear collection. At the media event on Tuesday at Watermark, Yung showed no signs of jet lag, as she suggested she's an avid exerciser who can't afford to go a day without some exertion to stay in shape.
'Sports are fun, it's not a painful burden for me,' Yung said while riding a stationary bike. 'The key is to pick a sport you really enjoy. The hardest part is always when you're first starting. Then you get used to it and soon you notice all the benefits. When you see yourself slim down and more toned, you know all the hard work has paid off well.'
The Emperor Group star specifically cited badminton and speed-related athletic games as her favourites. However, you won't find her jogging on Hong Kong's roads. 'Safety is my main concern. I don't want to bump into some naked guy doing push-ups in parks. I'm better off finding myself a jogging buddy first,' Yung joked.
For her troubles, Reebok gave her a pogo stick. It's kind of an odd present but she gamely tried to hop on it to no avail. But Yung did promise she would bounce back. 'I'll be really good at this one day and perhaps hopping on the pogo stick can be the surprise for my audience at my next concert.'
