School

Lee went to school in Hong Kong. He went to La Salle College and St Francis Xavier's College.

Off to America

One thing Lee liked was fighting. It got him into trouble. When he was 18 he beat up someone so badly that he got into trouble with the police. His father gave him US$100 and sent him to America.

In the movies

By the time he was 18, Lee had been in 20 movies. While in America he got the role of Kato in The Green Hornet TV series. But for a long time he only got small roles in movies because he was Chinese.

He came back to Hong Kong to work for Raymond Chow. Here he got his first starring role. He starred in The Big Boss in 1971.

Lee made several other movies. It was through him that Hong Kong's movie industry became involved with Hollywood. His last movie Enter the Dragon was a big hit.

Strange death

Lee never got to see Enter the Dragon. He died three weeks before the movie was released. Doctors still argue about what caused his death.

Cursed?

Some people believe Lee was cursed. A curse is meant to cause bad luck. When Lee's son, Brandon, died on the movie set of The Crow, the idea of the curse gained strength.
