Fond farewell

MAY I, ''the Vampire'' (the name given by the local people), through these columns, say goodbye to all blood donors of Hong Kong.

I have now retired with effect from February 28, after 41 years' service with the Hong Kong Red Cross Blood Transfusion Service.

I feel sad, of course, to close the curtain on my long career, but happy that I have chosen the right job.

After so many years with the Red Cross I have witnessed many important historical events as well as building up a deep and good working relationship with blood donors of all nationalities, particularly those on the Special Blood Donation Scheme.

They seldom failed to respond to my urgent call for help to save life.

I feel grateful to all blood donors for their wonderful generosity.

I hope they will continue to help the Red Cross.
