Quickstep into Cirque du Soleil
with Andrew Sun. Additional reporting by Clara Mak and Vivian Chen.
It's very short notice (because we were notified at the very last minute), but Cirque du Soleil is trying to recruit some more top level dancers so it is holding its first ever auditions in the city today and tomorrow.
What they're looking for are versatile professional dancers with strong technique, stage experience and the ability to improvise. Candidates should also have specialised skills in contemporary, neoclassical, jazz and other movement styles.
If selected, the person will be added to Cirque's list of potential performers for current and future shows. Dancers will be asked to perform solo choreography and improvisational dance, and participate in group exercises that aren't necessarily dance oriented.
It's not an open call kind of thing. So if you're interested, send a photo and resume to the casting co-ordinator now at email@example.com. Only professional dancers over 18 are eligible.
