Apple 13-inch Macbook
While most new product scream about their latest innovations, Apple's new Macbook, with its 33.8cm screen, keeps everything under wraps.
Instead of the familiar white or black casing, the new version comes with aluminium casing. According to Apple, the whole bottom section encasing the keyboard is made from a single piece of aluminium, allowing the whole machine to be only 2.41cm thick and more durable than previous models.
The other new feature is the missing mouse button from the touchpad. Instead of putting in a separate button for clicking, the whole pad now acts as a button.
This means is that the touchpad is now much bigger, an important feature considering that the new Macbook now comes with Apple's multi-touch input a la the iPhone.
The new model also sports a souped-up graphics card from NVIDIA that brings up to five times faster processing speeds for graphical content.
The Macbook is available with an Intel 2GHz or 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, and hard disk drive options ranging from 160GB to 240GB in capacity. There is also an option for a 320GB solid state drive.
The new models will continue to feature standard Macbook features, including the built-in iSight camera, 802.11n wireless LAN connectivity, Bluetooth and a range of ports.
The new Macbook starts at HK$10,200 for the basic configuration.
Pros: bigger display, thinner machine, multi-touch input, ultra-fast graphics card, durable aluminium casing
Cons: no built-in 3G
