The HKTDC Hong Kong International Lighting Fair is the largest fair of its kind in Asia and the second largest in the world.

This year, the fair will host 1,570 exhibitors, which is an increase of more than 17 per cent on last year. Some 33 countries and regions will be taking part and Romania, Slovakia and Turkey will be participating for the first time, a sign that the fair is expanding year on year.

There will be seven special zones for different forms of lighting, including the burgeoning area of green or environmental lighting with 69 exhibitors. As consumers and manufacturers become more aware of saving energy and protecting our planet, so too is the market moving in an increasingly environment-friendly direction.

Other zones include Outdoor Lighting, Crystal Indulgence with some amazing chandeliers on show and Holiday Favour, for Christmas lighting and other decorative lights for use throughout the year. While the main purpose of the fair is to promote business opportunities for the lighting industry, it is also an ideal information-exchange platform. There are four seminars organised to deal with the issues of green lighting, sourcing trends and the latest market trends of the global lighting industry.
