THE US Export-Import Bank has made a US$62.9 million loan guarantee for the $80.7 million sale of Boeing aircraft to Ansett Worldwide Aviation Services in the bank's first transaction with an aircraft leasing company.

Ansett Worldwide will then lease the two B757-200s to Aerovias de Mexico of Mexico City.

Such aircraft leasing companies enable US aircraft manufacturers to place aircraft with airlines that often lack access to traditional sources of financing for direct purchases.
