Mosse can upstage the usual suspects

Today's Jockey Challenge is dominated by the usual suspects, but punters wanting to land a value play could do no worse than have something on the French riding ace Gerald Mosse at his overnight quote of $12

Mosse is just getting into the swing of the new season, having missed the first nine from a suspension held over from last term, but a strong list of rides today - both in quality and quantity - give him a chance to upstage favourites Douglas Whyte and Brett Prebble.

Mosse has been snapped up by in-form trainer Me Tsui Yu-sak to fill in for the suspended Howard Cheng Yue-tin and the racing merry-go-round might just fall the Frenchman's way today.

Tsui has turned Tycoon Taylor's form around and the gelding has possibly improved even further, judging the way he's gone in trackwork this week.

The other Tsui-Mosse runner is Thunder Dancing in the eighth event, the Derby Restaurant and Bar Handicap.

The race looks like being a pace-oriented affair and Thunder Dancing has more tactical speed than any of his rivals and may well lead throughout.

In early betting action last night, Jockey Challenge players found the $1.70 about Douglas Whyte appealing and nailed it, with club odds makers opting to prune the Durban Demon's quote slightly to $1.60.

Brett Prebble on the other hand drifted slightly from $4.50 to $4.70, despite looking to have strong winning chances in Asali Victory (race two), Pacific Alliance (race three), Majestic Heart (race six) and Gallant Champion (race nine).
