When secret American spy agency Control is infiltrated and the identities of all members compromised, the task of finding out what terrorist organisation Kaos is up to falls to Maxwell Smart.

Having just passed his spy test on the eighth attempt, Max isn't the ideal candidate. His partner is Agent 99, who underwent extensive plastic surgery to avoid detection. Their mission takes them on a wild goose chase to Russia as they try to find the bomb Kaos has threatened to unleash.

Get Smart is based on the 1960s TV series of the same name by Mel Brooks. It satirised the spy genre of movies, such as James Bond, which were particularly popular at the time. Several references to the series are made, including original items such as the shoe phone, the Cone of Silence and the multi-door entrance.

Steve Carell (The Office, Little Miss Sunshine) shines as the hapless, formerly obese Max who knows everything by the book - but nothing in practice. Anne Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) returns to her goofy comic beginnings, playing an ultra-glamorous siren who can't quite resist the awkward new agent.

Appearances by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson as the debonair Agent 23 and American Idol's Ryan Seacrest's voice are icing on a very silly, very funny, utterly enjoyable cake.
