British Council launches anniversary scheme

Liz Heron

The British Council's Hong Kong office has launched 47 scholarships worth a total of GBP545,000 (HK$6.7 million) to mark its 60th anniversary. The scholarships, ranging from GBP4,500 to GBP40,000, are for the next academic year and cover one year's tuition fees. At least 25 are at degree level. Director of education services Katherine Forestier said it was 'the largest scholarships scheme ever organised by the British Council exclusively for Hong Kong students'. Along with the Chevening scholarships, there was at least three times the number of awards offered last year.
