Students interested in Britain can apply for both the British Council 60th Anniversary Scholarships and Chevening Scholarships. There are nearly 50 British Council scholarships, which involve a fee-waiver for a full-year of study either in Britain or for a British course in Hong Kong for the 2008-09 academic year.
These include postgraduate courses at universities such as the London School of Economics, University College London, Hull, and Kent. Applications are open from November 1 until February 28. Chevening Scholarships cover fees and other expenses, including living and travel. The anniversary scholarships target outstanding students and, for some institutions, those who might not otherwise afford an overseas education. Chevening offers education to people with 'potential to be leading influencers in society in the future'.
