Faldo keen to stay on as Ryder Cup captain

He has been panned by the critics, vilified by the European media and made the subject of ridicule by some of his peers, but Nick Faldo hasn't had enough of the Ryder Cup.

'If somewhere down the line there's another opportunity to be captain, I'd seriously consider it,' said Faldo (pictured), who then refused to take another question on the subject.

'That's about it for the Ryder Cup. Let's stick to the tournament please,' said the 51-year-old.

A few futile attempts to try to get his views on his failed captaincy were quickly shot down. He talked about everything, from how he would reinvent himself if he were playing full-time today, to fishing and tennis - with Pete Sampras.

The Englishman was in charge as Europe lost for the first time since 1999 at Valhalla in September with Paul Azinger's US team winning 16?-11?. He came in for severe criticism over his handling of team affairs with pairings selections, singles order, and even public speaking after the loss.

Like it or not, the Ryder Cup captaincy has been a hot topic at Fanling, and not surprisingly as a number of players in the field are favourites for the position.
