Low-density private housing is preferred to public dwellings for a site in Tuen Mun East, according to a public consultation document released by the Planning Department. It said public housing had been opposed because of the secluded location and a lack of job opportunities and supporting facilities. The 5.1-hectare site near the Gold Coast would comprise blocks of three to 10 storeys, avoiding a wall effect, the department said.
