The 50th hole of the 50th edition of the Hong Kong Open gave up only 15 birdies yesterday in the cause of Operation Santa.

Sponsors UBS donated HK$5,000 for every birdie at the 14th hole on the Composite Course at Fanling ? a par 4 at 395 yards. Only Germany?s Bernhard Langer, among those on the leaderboard, managed the feat.

The 14 birdies grossed HK$85,000 and UBS will today donate HK$2,000 to every birdie on the 18th hole.
