Forget the golf - just enjoy the day

Not everyone who goes to the Open is a golf fanatic. 'Don't ask me about golf, I come here every year for a great day out with my family and friends,' says Korean-American Angela Cho (pictured far right) who grew up in Seattle but now lives in Kowloon.

'I come here with my family and friends because it's a great day out. The kids love playing in the bunker and there's plenty of space here for them to run around. That's not easy to find in Hong Kong. We also come up every year as the commentator, Dominque Boulet, is a friend of ours. Our kids went to kindergarten together.

'With my husband, Charles, and friend Julie, we love to let the kids play in the outdoors.

'We like to eat here and just hang out and enjoy the view and soak up the atmosphere.'

Her friend, Chinese-American Julie Chen, who is a university professor of medicine in Hong Kong, added: 'We tried some lessons last year. It was a lot of fun, but with my work and family commitments, I don't find that I have as much time to play it as I'd like.

'It's a great game that's frustrating and requires a lot of time and patience. I grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia. I don't miss that cold weather; this is the perfect time of year to be outdoors.'
