Turtle destined for the pot bites cook's toe

A 35-year-old kitchen worker ended up with a suspected broken toe after a scuffle with an expensive reptile, reputedly of high medicinal value, in a Shau Kei Wan restaurant. The man was taken to hospital after a 60cm wattle-necked soft-shelled turtle he was about to cook bit the little toe of his left foot in a bid for freedom. The man was wearing slippers at the time. The owner said the turtle, which sells for about HK$500 a catty, would be cooked on Thursday.
