Hutchison Whampoa has won the Buildings Department's approval to redevelop its 34-year-old headquarters in Central, Hutchison House, into a 47-storey office building from 23 storeys. The new project, at 10 Harcourt Road, could provide a gross floor area of 493,496 square feet, compared with about 500,000 sqft now. Office rents at Hutchison House average about HK$50 per square foot, 64 per cent lower than those at the three-year-old AIG Tower nearby, a property agent says.
