Jiang Tianyi and Cheung Yuk strengthened their chances of reaching the Pro Tour Finals after finishing in the top four at the German Open. The top 16 men's singles players will be eligible for the US$300,000 finals in Macau from December 11 to 14. Going into the German Open, Jiang was ranked 11th and Cheung 17th. In the semis, Cheung was no match for top seed and eventual champion Timo Boll of Germany, losing 4-0, while Jiang was beaten by Chuan Chih-yuan of Taiwan 4-3. Boll beat Chuan 4-1 in the final to capture his first pro tour title in two years.
