Experts meet to discuss weighty issues

An international conference on globalisation kicked off at Chinese University yesterday. The two-day conference on 'Globalisation: Cultures, Institutions and Socioeconomics' was organised jointly by CUHK and Washington University in St Louis to address pressing issues of fair trade, global warming, poverty, effective governance, terrorism and the global economic crisis. More than 100 academics, including the 1993 Nobel laureate in economic sciences Douglass North, were set to give four keynotes speeches, two plenary sessions and 22 concurrent sessions.
