Connecting with teens around the world

Name Emilio Agustin

Age 16

City Santa Rosa

I live in Santa Rosa, a city in central Argentina with a population of about 100,000.

I study 12 subjects in school. I think my school life is quite tough. Classes begin at 7am and end at 2pm. Sometimes I have to stay home for the rest of the day to finish my homework.

My first language is Spanish. I also speak English and a little French.

In my free time, I hang out with my friends and chat, go for ice cream or watch a movie. At the weekend, we go dancing at a disco and make new friends.

We have several festivals which celebrate harvest and a lot of music festivals.

Christmas and New Year are the two most important celebrations. People eat a lot and there are fireworks displays.

I visited the United States with my family when I was eight. But I haven't travelled much, and I had never been to Hong Kong before joining AFS Intercultural Exchanges.

Teenagers in my country are independent and are given the freedom to make their own decisions. We tend to be happy individuals who enjoy life.

I want to study medicine and work with organisations that help the poor and the needy.
