Votes cast over three days for contestants in the Miss Exhibition Pageant in Victoria Park have been thrown out because organisers mixed up photos of two of the contestants.

'Due to an editing error, the shopping guide for the 43rd Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo had a mistake over the photos of contestant No7 and contestant No8,' the Chinese Manufacturers' Association said yesterday. Contestant No7 was incorrectly identified as Helen Tang and No8 as Emily Tong.

The pageant is being held during the expo, which runs from December 13 to January 4. Ten contestants representing 10 companies are competing.

The association, which is running the pageant, apologised for the mistake, adding: 'We announce that all the votes ... cast in Victoria Park from December 13 to 15 will be discarded. But votes cast on the internet will not be affected.'

It invited the public to vote again.

For information, call the association on 3421 2012.

A spokeswoman said new labels would be placed under the photos of the contestants to correct the mistake.
