Sony Vaio JS15
Many companies have tried to copy the iMac since Apple first introduced it a few years ago, but the only brand so far to even come close is Sony.
Like the latest iMacs, the new Vaio JS15 comes in a single unit containing all the computing elements on the back of a big LCD display. While previous pretenders have focused on this characteristic of the new PC format, Sony has gone a step further by taking into account the entire look and feel of the device.
The most obvious element is the keyboard, which mirrors the iMac's ultra-thin metallic one. Even the keys, separated and sitting individually, are like Apple twins.
While the Vaio JS15 isn't quite as minimalist or visually striking as the iMac, the design is actually a bit more utilitarian because it doesn't stand up off the desk as high, and therefore requires less space.
Underneath, or rather behind, its good looks and 20.1-inch LCD monitor is an Intel Core 2 Duo processor running at 2.53GHz, 2GB of DDR2 RAM, a 320GB hard disk drive, a DVD SuperMulti drive, wireless connectivity, and the full range of input and output ports.
What's even more exciting, the Vaio JS15 is marketed as an all-round entertainment system, capable of not only media playback, but also gaming.
To support the advanced graphics of today's PC games, the Vaio JS15 is equipped with a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce 9300M graphics processor.
The Vaio JS15 is listed at HK$8,980.
