Court awards Britney's dad pay rise for managing her affairs

A US court has awarded Britney Spears' father a pay rise of about US$75 (HK$580) an hour for managing her life, Ananova.com reported. Jamie Spears, who took over the running of his 27-year-old daughter's financial affairs in February, was awarded an additional payout of US$51,000 by a Los Angeles court. Mr Spears had already been receiving payouts of US$10,000 a month for helping to restore Britney's career. But LA Superior Court Commissioner Reva Goetz increased that amount to approximately US$16,000 a month, Ananova.com said.

Mr Spears was also awarded back pay to compensate for the rise.

He was also granted an additional US$1,200 monthly payment so he could keep an office, it said.

Ms Goetz said the payout was justified by his work getting the star singer's personal and professional lives back on track.

Mr Spears has helped Britney with the release of her sixth studio album, Circus, and the planning of the promotional tour, her first in four years.

The album, which sold 505,000 copies in the US in its launch week, has shifted more than 705,000 copies since its release last month.
