Elderly man beaten in robbery

A robber is being hunted by police after a 73-year-old man was assaulted and robbed of HK$7,000 and a mobile phone in his Kwai Chung flat. The offender, thought to be aged about 30, rushed into the Chak Yam House flat on On Yam Estate, pushed the elderly man to the floor and beat him when the victim returned home at about 11pm on Monday. The attacker fled with the cash and a mobile phone. The elderly man was treated for head injuries at Princess Margaret Hospital.

Drink-driving arrest after crash

Police arrested a motorist for drink-driving after his car slammed into a concrete embankment in Gloucester Road near Wan Chai Sports Ground at 2.11am yesterday. The unhurt driver, 38, was released on bail of HK$5,000.

Worker injured in fall

A man suffered head injuries when he fell from the top of a 2-metre ladder in Tsim Sha Tsui. The 50-year-old was fixing a signboard in Minden Row at about 1pm when the accident happened. He was in a stable condition in Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

Car set ablaze in Yuen Long

Yuen Long detectives are investigating an arson attack in which a car parked in Fung Kam Street, Yuen Long, was torched at 3.17am. Firemen doused the flames.
