Pet advice

Hongkongers should realise that keeping a pet is a huge responsibility. You need to feed them, train them to be obedient and play with them.

And when the animals become sick, you should take them to the vet.

You cannot ignore your pet simply because you are working or studying.

So you have to think twice before you buy a pet.

Abandoning your pet is a cruel and irresponsible act.

Treat your pet like a human.

Learning process

Sometimes I wish I had the power to change the past. But this is wishful thinking.

I read this in a book recently: 'Think about how you can improve for the future, but don't waste your present thinking about how you could have changed the past.' The author is absolutely right. There's no use thinking about our past wrongdoings. We should learn from those mistakes and work hard to ensure a bright future.

Hong Kong is my ideal city

If I could choose a place to live, it would always be Hong Kong. There are several reasons for this.

First of all, Hong Kong has many geographical advantages. For example, we are fortunate that we haven't been affected by major natural disasters. Thousands of people die in earthquakes, floods and other disasters around the world.

Second, Hong Kong provides a good quality of life for its residents. And we have freedom of speech and religion. We can express our feelings in many ways, such as debates and demonstrations.

Finally, I really like the local street cafes, or dai pai dong, because they are a unique feature of Hong Kong.

Therefore, Hong Kong is my ideal city. I love this place!

Don't throw away leftovers

We need to eliminate food wastage which causes many environmental problems.

As the rubbish piles up, this puts extra pressure on our landfills which are fast reaching capacity. We order too much food in a restaurant, especially during festivals.

We can easily take home the leftovers and eat them the next day. This saves us money and is also eco-friendly.

On the other hand, restaurants and hotels can offer a variety of portion sizes so customers can choose the right amount.

These establishments can also donate excess food to organisations which help the poor.

Food is precious so we should not waste it.

Grab the chance to build up trust

This is such a complicated world. More and more people are telling lies in order to protect themselves, their friends or relatives.

As a result, it is hard to develop mutual trust within the community.

Besides, those who don't trust others may get depressed easily since they hide their true feelings.

They have to face problems by themselves with no one to talk to.

I think the New Year provides a great opportunity for everyone to relieve stress and build up mutual trust with others. It is also a time for all of us to have some fun.

World of love

Love is always around us. Our parents love us the most. Then we have our friends, teachers and relatives. The better we treat others, the more they will love us. We should treasure those around us.
