Man arrested for passing robbery note to bank teller

A man arrested yesterday after he gave a note to a bank teller in Western saying 'Robbery. Transfer money into an account' claimed he had received a phone call and was ordered to deposit HK$100,000 into a bank account for the release of his nephew. Police said the man, 48, was arrested outside an HSBC branch in Des Voeux Road West at 10.12am after he left the bank. Police said the suspect's nephew had not been abducted. The man was being detained last night and no charge had been laid.

Gripes over Zhang Ziyi photos

The Television and Entertainment Licensing Authority received two complaints about the publication of risque photographs of actress Zhang Ziyi in this week's Next Magazine. The photos were among those taken by paparazzi of Zhang sunbathing half-naked while on holiday with fiance Vivi Nevo. They appeared on the internet this week.

Maid dies after collapsing

A domestic helper died after being found collapsed in a public housing unit in Kwai Chung. The Indonesian woman, 30, was found by her employer, 80, in the living room of Fu On House, Tai Wo Hau Estate, at about 7.45am. Paramedics declared her dead at the scene.

Bus passengers injured

Two passengers were slightly injured in a collision between two double-deckers in Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, at about 10am. The women, 52 and 57, were treated at hospital.
