Woman thrown from bus seat

An 18-year-old woman was thrown off her seat on a KMB double-decker, injuring her knees, when the driver braked heavily in Prince Edward Road West, Mong Kok, at 8am yesterday. She was taken to Kwong Wah Hospital. Police said the driver passed a breath test.

14 held over fight in pub

Police arrested 14 men aged 20 to 38 after they fought each other inside a pub in Yuen Long On Ning Road, Yuen Long, at about 1.30am.

Police arrest 3 over noise dispute

A father and son aged 64 and 27 and their 47-year-old neighbour were arrested after a fight in Tsz Ping House, Tin Tsz Estate, Tin Shui Wai, at 11.40pm on Wednesday. Police said the fight broke out during an argument over noise. The son and neighbour were treated for minor injuries at Tuen Mun Hospital.

Taxi and van burst into flames

A taxi driver escaped injury when his cab burst into flames in Sau Mau Ping at about 7am. Police said the taxi caught fire when the 38-year-old driver started its engine in Choi Ha Road. Firemen doused the flames and no one was injured. In a separate case, firemen were called when a delivery van burst into flames at the Hong Kong Island exit of the western tunnel at 1.15pm. No one was injured.

Stingray stings man

A 35-year-old Mid-Levels man was taken to Queen Mary Hospital by ambulance after a 10cm stingray stung him on the hand while he was cleaning an aquarium in a flat in Seymour Terrace at about 6pm.

Visitors up 4.7 per cent last year

More than 29 million visitors came to the city last year, a rise of 4.7 per cent on the 28.17 million of 2007, the Tourism Board said.
