When the Nintendo DS was released four years ago, the revolutionary twin-screen portable gaming system was applauded by the industry for recycling the old clam-shell design of its old Game & Watch (G&W) multi-screen LCD games.
The first G&W's were about four by six inches in the 1980s.
They were as thick as a CD case and contained one game.
A couple of years later, Nintendo introduced the multi-screen clam-shell G&W, which would become the basis for the NDS.
On Nintendo's Club Nintendo website, members can order a special Game & Watch Collection card that features three multi-screen classics: Donkey Kong, Oil Panic and Greenhouse.
In Donkey Kong, gamers have to guide Mario up a building under construction while jumping over oil drums thrown by the mad Donkey Kong, who has kidnapped Mario's girlfriend.
In Oil Panic, you have to catch leaking oil in a bucket before it falls on a burning stove. Once the bucket is full you have to empty the bucket by tossing it into a moving drum.
In Greenhouse you have to squirt insecticide on pests that want to eat the flowers in the green house.
The games are as much fun as they ever were.
