Time travels with Brad

Oscar-winner Cate Blanchett and heart-throb Brad Pitt pair up again following the success of their collaboration on Babel in 2006. In The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, they play a loving couple suffering from a serious age gap.

Pitt plays Benjamin Button, a man with a curious condition which causes him to age in reverse. His mother dies giving birth to him. His father, repulsed by baby who looks like a decrepit, wrinkled old man, abandons his son on the stairs of an old people's home. Queenie, who works at the home, adopts the baby and names him Benjamin.

Benjamin meets Daisy (Blanchett), the granddaughter of one of the home's residents when he's a teenager (and looks like a 70-year-old), and it's love at first sight. The rest of the film tracks the development of their seldom-smooth relationship.

What the film lacks in unpredictability, it makes up for in amazing makeup and visual effects, and stunning performances by the two leads.

The only disappointment is that the movie, based loosely on a short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald, opens in almost exactly the same way as Titanic - it's a shame the screenwriter couldn't come up with something a little more creative.

This is an absolute must-see for all Pitt fans. Despite looking like a great-grandfather at the start of the film, his allure can't be denied as his affliction turns him into a motorbike-riding babe.
