Chrome Shelled Regios (anime)

Shonen

Giant monsters and super-human powers combine for a clash of epic proportions in new anime Chrome Shelled Regios, currently being broadcast in Japan.

Chrome Shelled Regios was a originally a light novel series by Shusuke Amagi with illustrations by Miyu. It was later adapted into three different manga series by three different artists. The anime production is done by ZEXCS, who have worked on shows like Rental Magica, Wagaya no Oinarisama and Ten Tokyo Warriors.

This is a sci-fi action anime with enough goofy humour to break up the serious overtones at just the right moments. The story is set in a futuristic world where everything has become a desolate, polluted wasteland and people live in snow-globe-like cities that are under the constant threat of gigantic monsters called the Limbeekoon.

In the city of Zenri, Leyfon Alseif has just arrived for his first day of school; but before he even sets foot in a school building, his planned life journey takes a turn. After using his powers to save a girl from being crushed by falling rubble, Leyfon is forced to transfer from general studies to military arts, and gains a full scholarship to the school.

He is placed into the 17th squad under Nina Antalk, a driven yet stubborn team captain.

Relying on military skills rather than their powers, the squad goes up against a better squad in a game which they are expected to lose badly. But Leyfon shocks everyone by showing his true abilities and winning the game.

Chrome Shelled Regios packs plenty of action and light humour into each episode. It should make its way to Hong Kong some time in the near future.
