Ten residents from the outlying islands marched to the Transport and Housing Bureau yesterday to petition for lower ferry fares on public holidays. Fares on average increase by 40 per cent during the holidays, and residents say they do not reflect the recent slide in oil prices. More than 700 residents in Peng Chau, Mui Wo, Cheung Chau and Lamma Island signed the petition demanding fare cuts and a stop to ferry service providers raising prices at will.
