We must support our musicians

It is often said that Hong Kong music is a failure. It consists only of pop music, and the artists are not very professional.

I must admit that music from other countries has more diversity, and foreign artists seem much more skilful than ours.

But that doesn't mean we shouldn't support Hong Kong music. This is our music, our culture.

The lyrics of Canto-pop are unique.

They tell our stories, the stories of Hong Kong.

These days, more and more artists are producing songs about current issues, like Wedding Street by Kay Tse.

Furthermore, Hong Kong music isn't as boring as it was before.

Artists like Khalil Fong are trying new and exciting things with their music.

Hong Kong music is not outstanding, but it is improving, and it will never become international if we don't support it.

Learn to find and keep friends

Some people find making new friends very difficult. But it is actually easy if you know how.

If you are an outgoing person, just display your personality and talk to people. Express yourself and show your friends how much you care about them.

If you are shy, don't force yourself to be outgoing. But be there for your friends when they need you.

Be a good listener, and offer a helping hand whenever it is needed.

There is no easy, quick way to develop friendships. Just be patient and sincere. It takes time to build up friendships.

Good feelings

We experience a wide range of feelings and emotions every day.

We feel amused when reading a comic book. We feel frustrated when we fail an exam. We feel frightened when we meet an angry person. We feel terrified when we watch a horror movie.

But the most important feeling is happiness.

Remind yourself to try to be happy every day.

If you're frustrated, depressed or unhappy, keep looking for a way to make things better.

We must reduce food waste

Wasting food is bad for our environment. Food is a precious resource, and the methane gas produced by rotten food in landfills damages our planet.

In Hong Kong restaurants, a lot of food is left over. Because of hygiene concerns, this food has to be thrown away.

It's hard to imagine how much food is wasted every year.

Perhaps restaurants could serve smaller portions and reduce their prices accordingly. I can never finish what I order when I eat out, and it saddens me to think the leftovers will end up in landfills.

A large percentage of food waste comes from buffets. If hotels and restaurants charged diners extra for what they do not eat, they might not put so much on their plates.

We should reduce our food waste in any way we can.

Please remember this next time you sit down to eat.

Health is beauty

Beauty means many different things. Some think having a pretty face or being slim is beautiful. But I think being healthy makes people beautiful.

People pay too much attention to appearance. A lot of girls and women wear makeup and use slimming products.

I don't think this makes them look beautiful. Health is the key to beauty.
