Of the many versions of The Nightmare Before Christmas made since the film was first released 15 years ago, the 2-disc collectors' edition remains the most enjoyable.

The story follows Jack, the discontented king of scream-and-scare, as he discovers the fun of Christmas Town. He decides to steal the festivities and take them to Halloween Town.

The stop-motion movie was digitally restored and re-mastered with enhanced colour treatment to provide sharper and more detailed images. This means the darkness is darker, while anything glowing, such as Christmas tree decorations and the moon, are even more radiant.

The discs are also loaded with extra features that take at least three hours to get through. But once you've started, you'll struggle to stop. With everything from deleted scenes and story boards to 'making of' features, you'll be blown away by Tim Burton's creativity and the production team's patience - 70 seconds of film took a week to make.

If you don't have a widescreen TV and professional sound system, you won't appreciate all the added features. But it's the perfect gift for friends obsessed with home entertainment.
