1 We've all heard of oils made from corn, peanuts, olives and canola but rice bran oil is relatively rare. Alfa One's cold-pressed pure rice bran oil is high in antioxidants and monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are considered 'good'. It's sold for HK$42 for a 500ml bottle at ThreeSixty (The Landmark, Central, tel: 2111 4480; Elements, Tsim Sha Tsui, tel: 2196 8066).
2 These miniature spring-form pans are the perfect size for individual desserts; you can use them with the removable base if you want to make cakes, or use the outside ring on its own if you're making moulded desserts. They cost HK$25 each from Apita (Cityplaza, Quarry Bay, tel: 2885 0331).
3 James White Organic Pear Juice from the Whites Fruit Farm, in Suffolk, Britain, tastes surprisingly fresh for a bottled juice. Made from farm-pressed pears and using ascorbic acid (vitamin C) as an antioxidant, a 750ml bottle costs HK$48 from Little Giant (15/F Chung Wai Commercial Building, 447 Lockhart Road, Causeway Bay, tel: 2573 3610).
