Sunrise shines in 330-1 double

Murray Bell

Dennis Yip Chor-hong had a brilliant day at the office, not only landing a 330-1 double with Sunrise and Local Power but seeing a return to form of two of last season's more promising horses as well. Sunrise, 12-1 winner of the fifth event, was the first leg of Yip's double and the second of a two-timer for Brett Prebble. 'This horse was very unlucky at his first start but I've had to give him some time off to recover from a stomach problem,' Yip said. 'I liked this horse's sire, Shinko King, and I think with his breeding he will make a nice stayer later on.' Prebble was also bullish about the future prospects of Sunrise. 'That's what I thought he might do at his first run but he got badly checked,' he said. 'He's a decent horse but he's not there yet and I'm happy that Dennis has given him the time he has to develop. The high speed today helped overcome the draw - he showed good turn of foot and I think he's a horse for later on.'
