Some fung shui masters recommend placing a vase in the wealth sector of your home, in which you keep small pieces of jewellery to symbolise your family's prosperity. Others suggest half filling the vase with rice or soil and burying coins in it to imply that the occupants will always enjoy wealth and prosperity.

Of course, the traditional use of vases - for flowers - is also beneficial in fung shui. Place a certain number of flowers in a vase in the romance sector of your home to improve your love life. The number of flowers you should display depends on your year of birth. You should keep the water clean and replace dying flowers. Avoid artificial blooms as they have no life force or energy.

Vases should not be left totally empty as this implies that the occupants' fortunes - in wealth or romance - will dry up or disappear. If a vase is badly damaged, it should be replaced; vases can be repaired but any visible cracks bode ill for the occupants.
