Prebble and Doleuze can give top two run for their money

The favourites dominated as expected on Wednesday night, with honours going to Douglas Whyte, but today's Sha Tin Jockey Challenge has much more depth to it and the possibility of a winner at more attractive odds awaits.

On last night's 7pm tote call, Christophe Soumillon headed the market at $2.60 ahead of Douglas Whyte at $3.00. Each rider has a quality book of rides but Soumillon does look fractionally stronger, with winning chances including Alice Too and Derby Trial favourite Thumbs Up.

However, in putting 72 per cent of their market into those two top players, some other leading chances are wider in the betting than perhaps they should be.

Brett Prebble ($5.50) has an undeniable chance once again, having landed the honours at Sha Tin last weekend.

At least six of his rides qualify as winning chances by our reckoning, and Survey Survey could qualify as a seventh.

Olivier Doleuze is also an attractive play at $10.00. He gets a 'free kick' in the first with Royal Flush and then gets four more winning chances as they day progresses, including Unique Jewellery in the Derby Trial.
