City's Australians help bush fire victims

HSBC

They might say 'no worries' a lot, but when it comes to the recent deadly bush fires back home, the Australian community in Hong Kong has been quick to rally help for their mates devastated by the tragedy. Over the weekend, various groups under the Support Australia coalition pitched in, organising events to raise funds.

On Friday afternoon, the Australian International School's Parent Club threw a barbecue. That evening, the Australian Association collected money at its Friday Unwind drinks at the Pickled Pelican. On Sunday, the Federation of Australian Alumni Associations turned its Inter-U bowling competition at Whampoa Garden's Thunderbowl into a fund-raiser as well.

On Thursday, the Australian Chamber of Commerce's Mix At Six in Exchange Square will collect donations, while on Friday, February 27, a collection box will be set up at the Australian Chinese Association's ball at the Marco Polo Hotel.

If you're not at any of these activities, the Australian Association has set up a fund-raising account for deposits. The HSBC account is: 102 298031 838. You can also send cheques made out to 'The Australian Association of Hong Kong Ltd'. Mark 'Bushfire Appeal' on the back. The address is Room 306, 3/F Tesbury Centre, 28 Queen's Road East, Wan Chai.
