Panel member angry over lies

The Reverend Chu Yiu-ming says he was shocked and angered upon receiving a completely different account of when a baby's body was last seen in a hospital mortuary.

'My hands were shaking and I was so shocked as to be speechless,' said Mr Chu, a member of the panel the Hospital Authority set up to investigate the disappearance of the baby's body from the mortuary of Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital.

'The lies by a mortuary technician totally destroyed the parents' trust in the hospital, even towards the investigating panel.'

The incident had changed from being a mistake by a hospital to an issue about trust, Mr Chu said.
