It's an intriguing comic tale about a man who picks up extra cash by pretending to choke on food, and then weasling money out of those who try to help him.

He's also a sex addict who has no qualms about hitting on just about everyone he comes into contact with and shows little desire to change his ways.

All that even though his mother (Anjelica Huston, in a touchingly realistic performance) is falling apart and wants her little boy to see the errors of his ways.

That relationship forms the core of the film and throughout you'll be looking for some sign of redemption - but it never comes.

It's a gritty, in-your-face look at a man who knows almost every move he makes is wrong and who is searching for some sort of change, only to be drawn back again to the same scenarios simply because of the pleasure he derives from them - no matter what the cost.
