It is great to have dreams and making them come true can be tremendous fun. One tool we can use to help us create the life we're dreaming about is to have a wish board.

A wish board
A wish board, vision board or dream map is a picture representation of the things you want to have or create in your life. Our minds think in images, so when we give it a target in the form of a picture, it begins to guide us towards that target.

What to do
Think about the different areas of your life you'd like to focus on, such as career, money, love, family, spirituality, adventure, travel or health.
Go through magazines and tear out any images or words that jump out at you.
Cut out your selected images and stick them onto a sheet of cardboard.
Put your board up on a wall and look at it. Use all your senses to really experience the emotions and sensations of what it would be like to already be living the life depicted on the board.

What you'll need to create a wish board
Magazines, a pair of scissors, glue, a sheet of large cardboard, and time. If you want to be more creative, get some photos, glitter, stickers, ribbon, crayons, paint, pegs, beads, fabric and paper with different patterns and textures.

Centre yourself
Choose a photo of yourself that makes you feel happy or reminds you of a good time in your life. The aim of this is to hold your focus. If you don't have a photo that you like, you can also use a picture or a phrase that represents you and the place you'd like to be, for example: 'I have graduated.'

Use colour
Using particular colours on your wish board will conjure up emotions and associations that help you to make your dreams become clearer.

You could therefore use coloured tissue paper as a background frame around one or more of your pictures, or even some fabric.

Research suggests the following colours are most active in bringing about change:

Red involves action and passion; orange is also energetic but the drive to achieve is more joyful, fun and social; yellow is the colour of courage and mental focus; green is for balance and harmony; blue is helpful in communicating your needs, and for peace.

Keep it positive
Including positive statements is effective as it helps you to fully invest in what you want to bring about.
Saying it and thinking about it aligns your energy with what you want. Some examples of positive statements are: 'I am happy', 'I am safe', or 'I am healed'.
