The government has raised the cost estimate for Tuen Mun Road improvements from HK$4.62 billion to HK$6.8 billion, an increase of 47 per cent. In a paper submitted to Legco's transport panel yesterday, the Transport and Housing Bureau says the main reasons for the increase are a surge in the price of construction materials and the need for extra consultants.
