Angelini restaurant in the Kowloon Shangri-La is holding a dinner tomorrow night of Castello Banfi wines that received ratings of 90 or more points by publications such as Decanter and Wine Spectator. The six-course meal includes warm sea bass tagliata with country potato sauce and foie gras paired with the Castello Banfi Fontanelle 2006, homemade tagliatelle with veal, braised onion and green pea ragu with the winery's Cum Laude Sant' Antimo D.O.C. 2004, and a main course of oven-grilled grain-fed beef tenderloin with porcini mushroom and leek cake served with two wines, the Summus Sant' Antimo D.O.C. 2004 and Excelsus Sant' Antimo D.O.C. 2004. Sigfried Pic from Ferraton Pere & Fils in the northern Rhone will host a wine dinner tomorrow at Agnes B Le Pain Grille in Causeway Bay. The four-course dinner has dishes of pan-seared blood pudding with apple tatin, served with the Ferraton La Matiniere Crozes-Hermitage 2006, slow-braised wild boar with red wine, truffle potato puree and glazed pearl onions with the l'Eglantine Cote Rotie 2004, and a cheese course served with the Les Dionnieres Ermitage 2003. Laurent Ponsot, winemaker of Domaine Ponsot in Burgundy, will host a wine dinner at Restaurant Petrus at the Island Shangri-La. The five-course meal on Saturday includes grilled duck liver paired with the Domaine Ponsot Morey-St-Denis Cuvee des Grives 2005 and Morey-St-Denis 1er Cru Cuvee des Alouettes 2005, coriander seed-glazed Challans duck with the Chapelle-Chambertin Grand Cru 2001 and Griotte-Chambertin Grand Cru 2000, and a cheese course with the Clos de la Roche Grand Cru Vieilles Vignes 1999. The Harbour Plaza Metropolis in Hung Hom is featuring British fare at the Promenade Restaurant's dinner buffet until Saturday. The dishes include favourites such as Scotch eggs, fish and chips (below), beef and kidney pie, and bangers and mash.
