Peak vandals

LAST Friday night, vandals did the rounds of Harlech and Lugards Roads on the Peak and caused considerable destruction.

First, most of the litter bins were thrown down the hillsides (no small feat, they are extremely heavy), including one into the waterfall area about 10 metres below the road.

Second, the signs erected by the Country Parks Authority showing the names of the trees on the ''tree walks'' have been smashed and the concrete stanchion holding them broken off at ground level.

How they managed to avoid the regular patrols by the Peak police station personnel is anyone's guess, but I would be grateful if staff from the two departments in question could rectify this disheartening situation.
