Ben Lee The Rebirth of Venus (New West)

Australian singer-songwriter Ben Lee has made a career out of dividing listeners.

While the guy's talent can't be denied, the very notion of Lee's latest release is enough to send shivers down your spine. It's the 30-year-old's tribute to women, or to femininity, or to the Roman goddess of love, depending on who you believe.

Granted, his heart seems in the right place, but you are left wondering where his head is as he pops along wondering what's wrong with a boy playing with dolls (Boy With a Barbie), throws in a tribute to Yoko Ono (Yoko Ono) and reveals his own feminine leanings (er, I'm a Woman Too).

The warning signs sound with the over-enthusiastic, sing-a-long chorus of the opener What's So Bad (About Feeling Good). Heed them.
