A 30-year-old man on the mainland walked 34 days to see his 70-year-old mother during Lunar New Year, after his money was stolen at the railway station, the Dahe Daily newspaper reported. Li Haitao walked more than 800km from Beijing to Zhengzhou in Henan province . He arrived on March 9, a month after the Lunar New Year period ended.

Mickey Mouse is turning greener! This week Walt Disney announced plans to halve the carbon emissions of its offices and theme parks by 2012. They will continue to aim for zero emissions afterwards, the company said.

To achieve this, the company will boost its current recycling programmes, use clean energy, reduce its solid wastage and consume less water.

Mosha, three, lost her leg when she was an infant after stepping on a landmine in Thailand. She became the world's first elephant to receive a prosthetic leg in 2007.

Mosha started out depressed and anti-social, but she now plays with her fellow elephants. She has grown so quickly that, last month, she was refitted with a new prosthetic leg to accommodate her growth spurt.
